A Word from the Coach

My name is Pete Long and I am 40 something. I have been involved in competitive swimming since my age group days in the 1970's. I was fairly late in achieving any success, my first County honours being for the 100m Breaststroke in 1978.

Head Coach - Pete Long 2On joining the Armed Forces I changed to Frontcrawl, largely due to playing water polo. I have competed eversince, mostly in Masters Competitions, but occasionally Open events.

My first coaching assignment was in 1992, with the Joint Services Triathlon Team in Cyprus, before later launching a swimming club to combine with the existing children's teaching groups. I also advised the local Cypriot Swim Team.

Throughout my swimming career I have worked with some of top coaches, like Laurie Dormer (Ealing), Mark Perry (South Lincs).Having moving to Cornwall in 2001, and whilst concentrating on my competitive swimming with St Austell ASC, I have been fortunate to work with some of Cornwall's best coaches.
